That time I Wore a See Thru Skirt. Help Needed...

After seeing this pin I knew I had to find that skirt.
Maxi skirts transition well into all seasons, I like to collect them. What I didn't realize is this particular maxi is see thru. You get what you pay for right? So my 20 dolla Charlotte Russe skirt was just that, 20 dollars of the lowest count cotton available. The first time I wore it, hubby complimented me saying, how nice my legs looked in this skirt. My face expression, I'm sure, was priceless. Why would he compliment my legs when my skirt was ankle length?? So, off to buy a slip for the skirt, I just had to have.

My bigger problem with this skirt is deciding what to wear with it. I tried it with white. Super simple, can't go wrong with a front tucked white tee and slinky maxi. Didn't even think to photo it.
Since then it's been black. And soft colors like wheat and pastel pink....

What colors would pair with this skirt?
The pin combines the skirt with a white shirt and red accessories. I hardly own any red!
Work with me...

How does this skirt inspire you?

  1. I love that skirt! I've been wanting a maxi skirt for a long time. I just tried one on at Target, but their clothing is really cheap too. It was totally see through!

I can see mint green or coral going really well that skirt.

  2. Love that skirt, try a red top with it! I think it would look amazing!

  3. I just bought a gorgeous bright blue top from Ann Taylor that would look awesome with it. But then again, maybe not. I'm the least fashionable person ever. There's a reason I still dress like I'm a poor college student -- because I have no clue what looks good, so jeans and tees are all I wear ;)

  4. Great skirt! You can't tell it's see through from the pictures! But it is a great pattern so definitely get a slip so you can wear it a lot! I love it with the black and the scarf but I can definitely see it with white. Could you try it with chambray or blue? I don't really think you could go wrong with any colors! :)

  5. I love this skirt too! You can not tell its see through so I am guessing you are wearing the slip! I noticed maurices has some so I will go check them out. I am SHORT so I am not sure how they will look on me.

  6. I love the tops that you paired with the skirt! I think a brightly colored top and denim or white jean jacket would look awesome with it too! The same thing happened to me with a maxi dress I bought last year - it was navy and white striped and I'm really not sure I could ever wear it because of how see through it is!

  7. I think I need to invest in a maxi skirt. I love it with the white/pop of color, but black works too!

  8. Hahah. I love that the BIGGER problem (over the skirt being see through) is what to pair with it ;)

  11. Just think of the skirt as a neutral ( like jeans) and pair it with anything you would with those jeans. I love how you styled it here. Gorgeous skirt!

  13. You rocked that skirt with the scarf!

I'll be honest, I'm too afraid of even trying to wear a maxi skirt. I feel like I'd disappear in it!

  14. I think maybe a white baggy tank and a teal or yellow cardigan! :) you are SO cute. Don't worry girl -- the "see through dilemma" happens to the best of us! ;)

  15. That is too funny!! I have a few shirts like that (but I'll usually wear them to work and not realize I've been giving everyone a little "show" until after I get home..). That skirt is adorable though! It might be fun to pair it with a coral shirt to give it a fun pop of color (coral is in this year so you can't go wrong!). The black shirt w/scarf looked very classy and pretty!

  27. I would do white, with pops of color, probably bright pink if it were on me, red doesn't look right on me. :)

  28. That skirt is adorable! Its neutral colors, so you can wear it with anything! Try a neon like pink, or a fun cobalt blue. A floral or polka dot scarf would be fun with it too.
